At first glance this work seems to consist of only a few shades, but if you look longer, you can see that there are many subtle shades in white, gray, ochre and olive green. The work is built up of many layers on top of each other, which gives it a lot of texture.
The concentrated colors on the right side of the canvas suggest that they form a kind of portal to another dimension. The work evokes the suggestion of all sorts of things sprouting, new life, hence the term Primavera, which is Italian for 'spring'.
