Marleen van Lanen

Marleen van Lanen (Oss, 1980) graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem in 2002. Since then she has worked as a visual artist, illustrator and children's book writer. 

She mainly paints in an abstract style, both with oil and acrylic paint. She regularly uses materials such as sand, fabric or embroidery threads in her paintings which literally and figuratively provide the surface several layers.

Although Marleen van Lanen does not necessarily make 'spiritual paintings', her work often seems to suggest a different dimension. In any case, her paintings are a direct expression of her emotional life, as she paints completely intuitively.
