The lower part of this work is the most striking. There, the oil paint with firm strokes of the palette knife thickly applied in subtle blue, turquoise and soft brown shades. There is a lot of texture and movement. As your eye is directed upwards, the painting becomes calmer and more monochrome in color. There the paint is much more transparent and thinner. The colors are more even. The whole has a very calm look, almost something meditative.
